Using ReadPad
Does it work outside Chrome?
ReadPad is a Chrome extension, so it reads webpages and anything you paste into its Reader tab — it can't read text inside other desktop apps like Word or a PDF viewer running outside the browser.
Do the voices sound robotic?
They sound like whatever's already installed on your machine — the same voices behind Windows Narrator or Chrome's own accessibility reader. ReadPad doesn't add AI voices; that's what keeps it free of a monthly fee.
Licensing & devices
How many devices can I use my license on?
One license key activates on up to 10 devices — plenty for a laptop, a desktop, and everything in between. If you ever run out, deactivate an old device right from the extension's Pro bar to free up a slot, or email for help.
Where's the refund policy?
Email within 14 days of purchase with your order confirmation and you'll get a full refund, no questions asked.
Privacy
Does ReadPad send my text anywhere?
Reading aloud happens entirely on your device via your browser's built-in speech engine — your text never leaves it. The only exception is Translate (Pro), which sends the text you're translating to Google Translate's public endpoint, and only when you press that button. Full details are on the Privacy page.
Does it track or sell my data?
No analytics, no ad tracking, no data sales — ReadPad doesn't run analytics scripts or build an advertising profile.
