When you select text on a page or paste it into the Reader, ReadPad reads it using your browser's built-in speech engine (the Web Speech API). That text is processed entirely on your own device — it is never sent to ReadPad's developer or stored anywhere outside your browser.
Only when you press "Translate," the text in the Reader is sent to Google Translate's public translation endpoint to get a translated result back. This only happens on that explicit action — never automatically or in the background.
Voice choice, speed, pitch, volume, theme, and your custom skip/replace rules are stored using Chrome's own chrome.storage — synced through your Google account like any other Chrome setting, never through a ReadPad server.
Activating a Pro license key sends that key to Lemon Squeezy's license API to confirm it's valid. No other personal information is collected as part of this.
PDF, Word, and text files you open are read and converted to text entirely in your browser (via the open-source pdf.js and mammoth.js libraries) — files are never uploaded anywhere.
ReadPad doesn't run analytics scripts, doesn't build an advertising profile, and doesn't sell or share data with third parties. Questions about this policy: readpadpro@gmail.com.
